The 12 new companies will create more than 460 jobs in the Leipzig region in the coming years. The region enjoys international popularity; the new companies come from Germany, the UK, Poland, Estonia and Egypt and are mainly active in the IT, manufacturing and green tech sectors.
Clemens Schülke, Mayor for Economic Affairs, Labour and Digital Affairs, is delighted with the positive economic development: "Our city and region are experiencing a boom that we also want to make visible internationally. We have moved up to 7th place among the largest cities in Germany. Our economy is stable on several pillars. This diversity makes us strong and resilient. And we want to continue to grow: with our 'speedboat' Invest Region Leipzig GmbH (IRL), we are looking for partners in Germany and in international markets, focussing on our innovation clusters IT, Life Science and Green Tech."

The close cooperation between the city of Leipzig and the district of Leipzig is a recipe for success that is also recognised internationally and was honoured by the Financial Times in the "European Cities and Regions of the Future 2024" ranking with two awards for "Mid-Sized Cities - Best FDI Strategy" and "Small Regions - Best FDI Strategy".

"Leipzig and the region continue to focus on sustainable growth. Competitive prices and the continuous development of commercial space ensure our attractiveness. The rankings in the fDi Intelligence Awards confirm our commitment as an excellent investment location," says Michael Körner, Managing Director of IRL.

The strong growth in the region is supported by continuous property development in the Leipzig region. IRL accompanies and supports the city of Leipzig and the municipalities in the district of Leipzig in these development processes and markets existing and new sites on a national and international level. In 2023, for example, land projects in the city of Leipzig, Frohburg, Naunhof and Zwenkau were driven forward and further developed.

District Administrator Henry Graichen emphasises the importance of these successes for the district of Leipzig: "The district of Leipzig is no longer an insider tip for companies. In recent years, we have proven that we are one of the top locations in Germany! Companies such as Skeleton, HH2E and EDL have made a conscious decision in favour of the district of Leipzig."
