jambit GmbH chose the IT region as its third company location
On May 1, the Munich-based software service provider moved into its new 280 square metre premises at Klostergasse 3 in downtown Leipzig. Beginning with five employees, software projects for customers such as FAZ and AUDI are now being implemented. The number of employees has the potential to grow to 30 due to current vacancies for full stack developers, frontend and Java developers as well as DevOps engineers who will support the digital transformation of customers in complex software projects.
With jambit, another IT company is moving to the region. In recent years, numerous companies from this sector have settled here. In addition to Leipzig, the cities of Copenhagen, Linz and Dortmund were also shortlisted for the new jambit location. The decision in favour of Leipzig was made because the demands for optimal transport connections and availability of skilled workers complement each other perfectly.
Peter F. Fellinger, founder and CEO of jambit GmbH: “Leipzig was the perfect place for our expansion. The office is ideally located in the city centre. Short transport routes, an excellent infrastructure and highly qualified, motivated employees. We couldn’t say no to that.”
After opening the Stuttgart location in 2017, jambit took the next company expansion step in Leipzig. Senior Software Architect Gernot Pointer even relocated from the Isar to the Pleiße. “I am excited about the opportunity to get to know a new city and to be involved in shaping something from the very beginning.”
Jambit had approached Invest Region Leipzig in search of another company location in autumn 2017. They provided support in the search for suitable office space and in recruiting the first employees in Leipzig. The specialist service of Invest Region Leipzig also presented the new job opportunities for beginning and experienced IT personnel at the akademika job fair in Nuremberg and its campus tour at two Brandenburg universities.
Dr Michael Schimansky, Head of the Office for Economic Development of the City of Leipzig, sees the resettlement as confirmation of the city’s cluster policy: “I am very happy about the new establishment. IT has been one of our fastest growing industries for years and has not yet reached the end of its trajectory. Especially medium-sized companies such as jambit GmbH have found excellent opportunities in Leipzig.”
