jambit create bespoke software solutions. The two CEOs Peter Fellinger and Markus Hartinger decided to set up a branch in Leipzig just over three years ago. So, it is a great time for a quick review.

With over 350 employees, jambit is one of the largest providers of software services in Germany. In addition to the headquarters in Munich, there are further offices in Stuttgart, Leipzig and Frankfurt. Philip Achenbach, Head of Subsidiary Leipzig, has worked in various positions in the jambit Munich team since 2013 but has not regretted the decision to move to Saxony to establish the office in Leipzig. The original plan was to start here with ten employees. What began with a five-person team quickly grew to 15 people in the first year, exceeding the original goal. For the second anniversary, there were almost 40 colleagues in the Leipzig team. "Leipzig has great prospects and potential, is a young and dynamic city," says Philip Achenbach.

Therefore, jambit GmbH plans to continue growing. "Various reasons influenced the decision in favour of Leipzig. On the one hand, the Leipzig region has great geographical and infrastructural strengths, and we also benefit from proximity to our customers. The real advantage of Leipzig for us is the availability of appropriately skilled workers you can find. There are different universities, also with a focus on IT," he explains, "So, we could recruit relatively swiftly. For an experienced software service provider like jambit, IT specialists across all industries are of interest, whether they are media or business IT specialists or people with an IT affinity looking for career changes. For us, ambitious people are important, those who put a certain amount of heart and soul into the topic, feel comfortable in the service sector and want to enjoy the variety of projects. From working students, for whom we also have a training assignment, to very experienced colleagues, we have a wide range and mix of employees," says Achenbach, describing the jambit team. The company also attaches great importance to a set-up of further training opportunities on offer so that colleagues can develop continuously. There is also, for example, the ‘Vertrauenslernzeit’ – a trust-based learning time that employees can book as working time for their interests, regardless of the direction in which they go.

jambit has a broad focus and sees itself as an innovative software service provider that implements and accompanies projects from first idea through to conception, implementation, and maintenance. The company has been around for 21 years. jambit decided to open an office in Leipzig in 2017. Through web research, jambit GmbH became aware of the business-oriented support of Invest Region Leipzig GmbH: "We researched Leipzig and a settlement here and came across the homepage of the Invest Region Leipzig", says Philip Achenbach. "Invest Region Leipzig advised us on the location, supported us in establishing various contacts with landlords, universities, the employment agency or the city of Leipzig / Office for Economic Development. The city tour was helpful right at the beginning, to get an impression of the city and its neighbourhoods and to find a suitable location," he explains. "As a newcomer, you don't necessarily have a lot of projects going on in the city or on your radar and you don't yet know who to approach for which topics. We found the advice and the tips from Invest Region Leipzig very helpful and constructive."

At the Leipzig office, jambit provides cross-sector support: from media to the automotive industry to banking & insurance companies or industrial companies. jambit offers tailor-made software solutions. "We stand for customer-specific services, implemented with the latest technologies and processes in software development with the great enthusiasm of our team.", says Achenbach. In Leipzig, the two office floors that jambit has moved into, in the city center, are slowly becoming too small. The course is set for further growth.

Fun fact: The option of installing a barista station also plays a role when moving into new premises. At jambit, a love of coffee and software solutions are linked: "There is also a barista training course for onboarding new colleagues," says Philip Achenbach. The name "jambit" stands for the best coffee plantation on the Indonesian island of Java. The "IT" in the name, and then the reference to the "Java" programming language were decisive when searching for a name. The company has been sourcing its coffee from the island ever since. The well-known "Kaffeesachsen" and jambit go together perfectly.
