Film & TV in the Leipzig Region

Media City Leipzig, directly connected to the broadcasting station, is the largest production complex for film, TV, radio and stage in Central Germany. It is home to over 70 creative media-related companies. Across a total of 13,000 sqm of media business space at Media City Leipzig, various rental options meet the diverse requirements of media companies and service providers looking to grow their media business in the Leipzig Region.

Visual arts in the Leipzig Region

In the field of visual arts, the Academy of Visual Arts (HGB) has been internationally renowned since the artist Neo Rauch studied there in the 1980s, and the New Leipzig School art movements of the nineties.

The Leipzig Region is also home to a thriving art scene with its colourful gallery and studio landscape located around the old Leipzig cotton mill, the Spinnerei.

The Leipzig Region was once world-renowned for publishing work and printing machinery. As a former stronghold of the book trade, the region still attracts more than 100,000 literature enthusiasts, connecting readers with authors, publishers and media companies every year at the Leipzig Book Fair and the reading event series ‘Leipzig Reads’.

Furthermore, at excellent educational institutions such as the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theatre (HMT) or the German Literature Institute Leipzig (DLL), top national and international talents are blossoming into the masters of their craft.

Alongside this, creative and media professionals, as well as those with technical skills required to bring their ideas to life, are trained at the University of Leipzig, the University of Applied Sciences, the University of Telecommunications and the Academy of Visual Arts.
