CYNiO chooses Leipzig
The innovative chemical start-up CYNiO has opened its new site in north-west Leipzig.
Unique and sustainable technology
CYNiO specialises in the safe, flexible and sustainable production of CO₂-based isocyanates – thanks to a unique, patented technology that does not require the highly toxic gas phosgene. Isocyanates serve as important building blocks for numerous products such as pesticides, adhesives and coatings. „Our main customers are chemical processing companies, but also research institutions“, says CEO Michéle Tille, who founded CYNiO together with her co-founders Marlene Baumhardt and Sophie Riedel as a university spin-off from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
Marketing and sales in Leipzig
The young company, which has its sights set on the European market and is using its technology to reduce dependence on international imports, has set up its production facility in the Bitterfeld-Wolfen Chemical Park in Saxony-Anhalt. Sales and marketing are now being handled from Leipzig. „The city has excellent transport links and is not far from our headquarters in Bitterfeld-Wolfen. As an attractive employer, we also offer administrative staff the opportunity to work from the Leipzig office. In addition, we have strong local partners and investors in Saxony – the Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen (TGFS) – right on our doorstep“, emphasises Tille.
Invest Region Leipzig was also able to assist CYNiO with its relocation to Leipzig. „IRL helped us above all by supporting us in our search for a location“, Tille continues.
