The delegation trip from the district of Leipzig to Innsbruck was a strategic step towards attracting new investors and strengthening economic relations. The district of Leipzig was accompanied by Invest Region Leipzig GmbH (IRL), the joint business development company of the city of Leipzig and the district, which organised the trip to Innsbruck and the business programme on site. The IRL was supported by the German Chamber of Commerce in Austria.
Culture as an economic door opener
The Saxon Wind Philharmonic Orchestra, honoured with the "OPUS KLASSIK" 2023 award, is not only a cultural ambassador for the Leipzig region, but also played a central role in this delegation trip. On the evening of 7 July, the Bad Lausick-based wind players performed their last concert of the 23/24 season and surprised the audience with a special highlight. The Bläserphilharmonie is one of Germany's 129 cultural orchestras and is unique in that it performs exclusively with symphonic wind instruments. Their performance at the annual Innsbruck Promenade Concerts in the historic Innsbruck Hofburg provided the perfect setting for a first meeting with invited regional business representatives. The evening began with an exclusive reception in the cultural restaurant "Das Brahms", which combines art and business in a special way. The champagne reception offered the opportunity to make contact with local companies and Tyrolean business representatives. Together, the participants of the reception were then able to attend the world premiere of the work "Alpenglühen" by Hennig Wölk, together with solo cellist Jakob Spahn, Bavarian State Opera.
Business breakfast: focus on business and cooperation
On the morning of 8 July, a business breakfast was held at the Hotel Innsbruck, where District Administrator Henry Graichen and the Managing Director of the (IRL), Michael Körner, welcomed Tyrolean entrepreneurs as well as representatives of the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce and the Deputy Mayor of Innsbruck. This exclusive environment provided the ideal setting to discuss the economic potential and investment opportunities in the Leipzig district. District Administrator Henry Graichen and the Head of the Economic Promotion/District Development Department, Gesine Sommer, as well as the Cultural Administration/Promotion Officer, Diana Loose, emphasised the strategic goals and the dynamic development of the region. In addition to presenting the economic potential of the Leipzig region, the current challenges and opportunities of the labour market were discussed in depth. It emerged that the economic regions of Leipzig and Tyrol have many parallels.
Lasting relationships and future plans
The delegation trip to Innsbruck made it clear how closely culture and business are linked and what opportunities arise from this. The talks and exchanges are to be further intensified in the coming year, at the latest at the summer concert in the Innsbruck Hofburg on 10 July 2025. An invitation was also extended to attend a performance of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" in the courtyard of Brandis Castle on 13 June 2025, which should further strengthen cultural and economic ties.
Conclusion: Economic impetus through cultural events
The combination of cultural events and economic meetings proved to be extremely successful. Together with its business development organisation IRL, the district of Leipzig was able to present itself as an attractive location and establish valuable contacts. The delegation trip to Innsbruck provided important impetus for future cooperation and strengthened economic relations in the long term.
> MORE VISIBILITY FOR THE DISTRICT OF LEIPZIG ALSO THROUGH SUCCESSFUL ONLINE MARKETING CAMPAIGN <
For the second time this year, IRL implemented an online marketing campaign for the district of Leipzig. The aim of the campaign was to increase the visibility of the district as an attractive business location, promote the establishment of new companies and raise awareness of the region. A successful online presence can attract investors, communicate economic and cultural advantages and lead to new investments. Online marketing strengthens co-operation and synergies with potential investors.
Successful campaign for the district continues
Last year, the online marketing campaign already recorded an impressive reach of over 10 million impressions among the relevant target group of managing directors and business decision-makers. The value indicates how often an advert was displayed to one or more users on the Internet. This reach was exceeded once again in the continuation of the campaign with over 15 million impressions. The IRL uses the data obtained strategically to target companies specifically for a location expansion or branch in the district of Leipzig.
