Leipzig presents itself at MIPIM 2026
Leipzig, March 3, 2026 – Invest Region Leipzig GmbH (IRL) will be represented at the City of Leipzig’s stand at the real estate trade fair MIPIM in Cannes in 2026. From March 9 to 13, they will join forces with their partners MIB AG, OFB Projektentwicklung GmbH, and Leipziger Stadtbau AG to present the Leipzig region as an innovative business location offering outstanding investment opportunities.
“Economic growth needs space – and the Leipzig region is able to provide that space. Overall, the framework conditions here are optimal and investment-friendly, enabling forward-looking projects in areas such as life sciences, green tech, and the digital economy to find excellent development prospects. MIPIM is an outstanding opportunity to introduce the strengths of the City of Leipzig and the region to an international audience,” says Michael Körner, Managing Director of Invest Region Leipzig GmbH.
Presentation of the City of Leipzig’s premium sites
Three key projects of the City of Leipzig will be presented in Cannes: The Airport Industrial Park, a 100-hectare industrial site located directly at Leipzig/Halle Airport, stands out with predictable logistics processes, short distances, and excellent connectivity – offering ideal conditions for growth.
Located in the heart of the city, the BioCity Campus provides a total of 100,000 m² of office and laboratory space. It brings together research institutes, university facilities, start-ups, and established life sciences companies.
Another highlight is the TechPark Leipzig, situated in the northeast of the city near the A14 highway. An innovation park is planned on a site of approximately 13 hectares, primarily targeting institutes and companies in the fields of energy, environmental technology, and chemistry.
Highlights from the Leipzig Region
Projects from the Leipzig Region will also be presented at MIPIM, including the Dow ValuePark Böhlen. Around 400 hectares of fully serviced land with comprehensive permits for industrial production are available for immediate development, featuring excellent infrastructure connections to federal highways, motorways, and the rail network. “With this highly attractive project, we will approach investors and project developers in Cannes in a targeted manner,” adds Michael Körner.
Sustainability is at the core of the Green Industrial Park Zwenkau, which focuses on companies in the fields of renewable energy and innovative technologies (such as hydrogen production), aiming to send a strong ecological signal. The approximately 40-hectare site near the City of Leipzig also benefits from excellent infrastructure connections.
MIPIM – International Platform for Investors and Project Developers
MIPIM in Cannes is regarded as one of the world’s leading trade fairs for real estate and investment. This year, more than 20,000 participants from around 90 countries are once again expected to attend. Invest Region Leipzig GmbH and the City of Leipzig will present their projects at the joint stand “German Cities & Regions” (Stand R8.D24), alongside the City and Region of Hannover, the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region, and the Ruhr area, while also establishing new partnerships.
The Leipzig Region – A Key Business Location
In recent years, the Leipzig region has developed into one of Germany’s most important business locations. Key advantages include its excellent infrastructure connections, the availability of attractive office and commercial space, a highly qualified workforce, and comprehensive investment support schemes. The high quality of life is reflected in its rapid population growth: With more than 630,000 inhabitants, Leipzig now ranks seventh among Germany’s largest cities.
