Meliodays Medical Named “Start-up of the Year”

At the 2026 Saxon Founder Award ceremony, Meliodays Medical was named “Start-up of the Year”. Invest Region Leipzig supported the innovative company in finding a suitable location in Leipzig.

A Valuable Addition to Leipzig’s Life Sciences Ecosystem

Meliodays Medical is developing a novel, hormone-free therapy for the treatment of menstrual pain, combining medical research with pharmaceutical development. The company adds another important dimension to Leipzig’s growing life sciences ecosystem. In 2024, Meliodays Medical participated in the “Summer School for Diverse Startups” organized by the start-up accelerator SpinLab. The company was subsequently selected for medical:forge, a dedicated accelerator program for medtech start-ups.

“Innovation emerges where people have the courage to turn new ideas into tangible solutions. These are exactly the entrepreneurs and founders we need for the future of our state. Our Founder Award ceremony demonstrates the tremendous innovative strength, entrepreneurial spirit and technological expertise that Saxony has to offer,” said Saxony’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Dirk Panter, during the award ceremony.

A total of 116 applications were submitted for this year’s award, through which the Free State of Saxony honours innovative business ideas, entrepreneurial courage and technological expertise “Made in Saxony”. The award ceremony took place as part of the Saxon Innovation Conference.
