Wreesmann plans second headquarters in the Leipzig Region
Ideal location for supplying the shops
Wreesmann is a medium-sized, owner-managed retail company with currently 90 stores in eastern Germany and Lower Saxony. The company offers a wide range of products from the DIY and garden centre, household and stationery, drugstore and hygiene articles and pet supplies sectors. Due to its strong expansion in recent years, the company was looking for a central location to optimise deliveries to all Wreesmann shops.
The town of Naunhof, Wreesmann and FIEGE Real Estate, which is to realise the construction project, invited residents to a residents' meeting on 28 February to present the project to the public. The presentation of the project offers residents an open dialogue and ensures the early involvement of the population in the decision-making process as well as transparent communication.
"A benefit for the region"
The company has been looking for a location in the Leipzig region since 2021. Invest Region Leipzig and the Saxony Economic Development Corporation assisted Wreesmann in its search for a site and provided support on many issues relevant to relocation. Wreesmann's relocation project is a strong signal for the competitiveness of the Leipzig district. The company made a conscious decision in favour of the Ammelshain site because it finds the ideal conditions for successful company development here. These include an excellent transport infrastructure, an efficient business location and well-trained skilled labour. Wreesmann's planned investment will not only create up to 80 new direct jobs, it will also promote innovation and strengthen the region's future viability. Wreesmann Managing Director Hans-Jürgen Meyer explains: "The Ammelshain site is very suitable for the operation of our new logistics centre because it is located in the geographical centre of our sales area and could therefore optimise our company's transport routes. In addition, the growth of our company in the coming years requires an expansion of our logistics capacities, for which we would have excellent conditions in Ammelshain."
The planned establishment of Wreesmann is a positive signal for the region. As an attractive employer, Wreesmann will make a direct contribution to ensuring that the south of Leipzig continues to gain in importance as an economic region.
Anna-Luise Conrad also commented on this in response to our enquiry: "This is a great success and shows that our efforts to open up our city to new companies are bearing fruit. I would like to thank Invest Region Leipzig for their active support. Together, we will continue to strengthen Naunhof's economic power and develop our region into a flourishing business location." - Anna-Luise Conrad, Mayor of Naunhof (non-party)
