The portfolio is completed with important service providers such as the Energy2market consultancy or the Mibrag mining group, which operates opencast mines in the area south of Leipzig. With a turnover of more than €4 billion, the municipal utility group is also a considerable economic factor.
The German Biomass Research Centre creates perspectives for the industrial-scale use of biomass in order to supply safe energy. Teams of researchers work on complex environmental situations at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ). The processes which are developed there are available via technology transfer for practical use all over the world.
