Opening of the new ENERTRAG site in Leipzig
ENERTRAG SE (ENRTRAG) is strengthening its commitment to the expansion of renewable energies in eastern Germany with the decision to establish a new branch office in Leipzig city centre.
ENERTRAG develops, builds and operates energy solutions from wind, photovoltaics, storage media and green hydrogen with the aim of completely replacing fossil fuels and driving forward the energy transition worldwide. The company supports projects along the entire value chain - from feasibility studies, financing and construction through to long-term operation and service.
Why expand in Leipzig?
Felix Herr, Project Manager at ENERTRAG, explains the decision as follows: "Above all, we were convinced by the diversity of industries and the innovative strength in the region, as well as the large number of qualified specialists. The fact that Leipzig has excellent transport links was also an important factor in our decision. For the planning region of our large team, i.e. the federal states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, Leipzig is to become a planning centre of our commitment."
Since the first contact with Invest Region Leipzig (IRL), interest in the company and the availability of qualified specialists has developed so positively that ENERTRAG is currently already starting with a team of 10 employees in Leipzig. Over the next two years, ENERTRAG plans to expand the team to 20 - 25 highly qualified colleagues in the fields of planning, engineering and project management.
Location and infrastructure
The new offices in the historic Speck's Hof in Leipzig's city centre offer space for efficient project work and short distances to network partners. The central location makes it possible to establish close cooperation with energy-intensive companies and local authorities in the region - an important building block for the realisation of future projects.
Projects and prospects
In the short term, ENERTRAG is planning specific wind power projects in the greater Saxony region and would also like to raise its profile as an East German greentech company in the long term. ‘We also have some project ideas with industrial partners in the greater Saxony area and hope to further intensify our involvement in the region with the new local site,’ says Mr Herr.
Cooperation with Invest Region Leipzig

"So far, we are completely satisfied and look forward to further cooperation. We would particularly like to emphasise the support of Ms Christiane Zurl and Ms Melanie Böhm!" The IRL not only supported ENERTRAG in its search for a location, but also facilitated valuable contacts with local players through targeted networking at events such as the business reception at the Gewandhaus and by participating in ‘Work in Leipzig’.
Conclusion
The opening of the ENERTRAG branch in Leipzig shows how an innovative company and a committed business development organisation can work together to drive sustainable growth. Leipzig and the region benefit from forward-looking greentech projects, ENERTRAG gains qualified specialists and regional partners - a win-win situation for all involved. We wish ENERTRAG every success at its new location!
