aevoloop
The GreenTech startup aevoloop develops novel plastics that are fully recyclable and even biodegradable — a true innovation benefiting both the environment and society. Thanks to a built-in “predetermined breaking point” within the molecules, the materials can be broken down more easily, while still remaining robust and highly versatile in their applications.
From Konstanz to Leipzig
In spring 2025, the young company relocated its headquarters from Constance to Leipzig. At the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), aevoloop combines research, development, and initial pilot production activities.
With the support of Invest Region Leipzig GmbH and a targeted site analysis, founders Manuel Häußler and Philipp Keßler quickly gained a comprehensive overview of available commercial spaces in Leipzig. At the same time, IRL connected them with network partners and potential skilled professionals — for example through participation in the “Work in Leipzig” networking event, organized by Invest Region Leipzig together with Leipzig University’s Career Service and Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK).
Leipzig University and IPF as partners
Leipzig University and the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF) are important partners for aevoloop. “We work very closely with them and are able to use infrastructure that would be impossible for us to finance as a startup on our own,” says CEO Philipp Keßler.
Substantial funding to accelerate time-to-market
Just six months after opening its Leipzig location, aevoloop secured extensive financial backing in autumn 2025 to further develop and scale its technology. The company received around €8.25 million through a combination of seed investment and public funding from the European Union and the Free State of Saxony via the Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB). This support enables the company’s novel circular plastics technology to make the transition from the laboratory to the market.
“What begins in Saxony has the potential to transform the plastics industry worldwide,” says CSO Manuel Häußler. “Together, we can lay the foundation for plastics to become truly circular — without any loss in quality.”
The company’s growing reputation is spreading quickly: In March 2026, aevoloop was invited as one of only three startups to participate in the 100th ZEIT Forum Wissenschaft in Berlin under the theme “Saving the World Through Science.” Manuel Häußler presented the company’s business concept at the event.
“Aevoloop is an outstanding example of how our region offers innovative companies ideal conditions for growth and the further development of their business models,” summarizes Michael Körner, Managing Director of Invest Region Leipzig GmbH. “We are delighted to have supported aevoloop in its relocation and to have contributed to this impressive success story.”
