Roofeco Solar launches operations in Borna
Invest Region Leipzig GmbH (IRL) is pleased to announce the settlement of Roofeco Solar GmbH & Co. KG. The GreenTech company has chosen Borna as its business location.
Start-up for sustainable construction
Roofeco Solar has developed a patented solution that combines state-of-the-art photovoltaic technology with a fully integrated roofing system made entirely from recycled plastic. In doing so, the start-up is making an active contribution to environmentally friendly construction. In addition to its very low carbon footprint, the system offers several other advantages, including low costs, lightweight construction, and fast, uncomplicated installation.

Leipzig Region offers key location advantages
“From the very beginning, there was a shared understanding that the company should be established in a region that actively supports start-ups and offers suitable conditions for growth”, emphasizes Norbert Fischer, Managing Director of Roofeco Solar. “In this context, discussions were held with several German federal states in order to evaluate the respective funding opportunities and support services available.”
Ultimately, the decision was made in favor of Saxony – and more specifically for Borna in the Leipzig Region. The availability of a suitable site, the high quality of life, and the location at the heart of the Central German Metropolitan Region were key arguments in favor of Borna.
“A central point of contact throughout the process was Invest Region Leipzig, which connected us with relevant stakeholders at an early stage and facilitated exchanges with the responsible authorities”, says Norbert Fischer. IRL supported the company, among other things, in finding a suitable location and through services provided by its skilled workforce support team.
